Domain 1 – Advanced Materials and Manufacturing for Accelerators and Fusion

The EN-MME-MM section supports with its research the development, characterization, and qualification of structural and functional materials for key accelerator and fusion applications.

Recent research has focused for example on the mechanical characterization of components at cryogenic temperatures, the detailed evaluation of nano- or low-Z materials, and the validation of tough structural alloys for fusion devices in contrast with lightweight materials for detector upgrades across the CERN complex.
